Member Terms

Last updated: 5 November 2026 · Version 2026-11-05b

These Member Terms govern access to the ShipScout platform, including the AI Broker, vessel data, scores, signals and related services (the “Platform”). By signing the access request, starting a trial or using a member account, you agree to these terms on behalf of yourself and the company you represent. They apply in addition to our general Terms of Service.

1. Definitions

  • Introduced Vessel: any vessel whose details you viewed in your member account, or that ShipScout identified, shared or discussed with you by any means.
  • Deal: any sale, purchase, recycling, demolition, lay-up or charter transaction concerning an Introduced Vessel, whether concluded by you, your company, your affiliates or any party acting for you.
  • Deal Value: the gross price agreed for the vessel in the Deal (for recycling sales, the price per LDT multiplied by the vessel's LDT), before any deductions.
  • Affiliate: any company or person that controls, is controlled by, or is under common control with you, and your employees, agents and partners.

2. Membership and access

2.1 Access is personal to the approved user and is granted after review by ShipScout. We may approve, decline or suspend any request at our discretion.

2.2 Membership fees: USD 299 per month or USD 2,990 per year, excluding VAT and taxes where applicable. Fees are invoiced by ShipScout and payable in advance. Access remains active until the date shown in your account (“Access Until”).

2.3 Membership does not renew automatically. Before your Access Until date we will contact you about renewal. If payment is not received, access ends on that date.

2.4 Fees already paid are non-refundable, except where required by law.

3. Free trial

3.1 Approved new members may receive a 14-day free trial of the membership.

3.2 During the trial, access is limited to 20 vessel detail views per day. All other terms, including Sections 5 and 6, apply in full during the trial.

3.3 We may end a trial early in case of misuse.

4. Fees for deals

4.1 Member deal fee. When a Deal concerning an Introduced Vessel is concluded with your participation, you pay ShipScout 0.5% of the Deal Value, payable on completion of the Deal, unless agreed otherwise in writing. This fee applies to every such Deal, whether or not you use the deal desk services.

4.2 Deal desk. The member deal fee includes ShipScout's contract and NCNDA preparation, payment and escrow handling, legal support and delivery coordination for that Deal, where you choose to use them.

4.3 Shipowners. Listing a vessel is free. Where ShipScout acts as broker for a shipowner, a success fee of 2% of the Deal Value is payable by the shipowner on completion, under a separate brokerage agreement.

4.4 Fees under this section are in addition to the membership fee. You will tell ShipScout promptly when a Deal is concluded and provide the main terms needed to calculate the fee.

5. Confidentiality and acceptable use

5.1 All information on the Platform, including vessel lists, scores, signals, owner and contact information, and any information shared by ShipScout, is confidential (“Confidential Information”).

5.2 You will not:

  • share your login or give access to anyone else;
  • copy, export, scrape, download in bulk or resell Platform data, or use automated tools to access it;
  • disclose Confidential Information to third parties, except to the extent needed to perform a Deal in which ShipScout is involved;
  • contact owners, managers or yards introduced through the Platform other than via ShipScout, unless ShipScout agrees in writing.

5.3 These obligations survive termination for 24 months.

6. Non-circumvention

6.1 For 24 months after you first viewed or received details of an Introduced Vessel, you and your Affiliates will not, directly or indirectly, conclude or facilitate a Deal for that vessel without ShipScout's written involvement.

6.2 If a Deal concerning an Introduced Vessel is concluded in breach of 6.1, you will pay ShipScout a fee of 1% of the Deal Value as compensation, without prejudice to any other rights ShipScout may have.

6.3 ShipScout's records of the vessels you viewed and the information shared with you are accepted as evidence of an introduction, unless you prove otherwise.

7. Data accuracy

7.1 Platform data is compiled from AIS signals, public sources and estimates. Positions may be delayed, estimated or labelled “approx.”, “estimated” or “last seen”. Scores are indicators, not guarantees that a vessel is for sale.

7.2 The Platform is provided “as is”. You are responsible for verifying any information before relying on it in a Deal.

8. Compliance

8.1 You will comply with applicable laws, including sanctions, anti-money-laundering and anti-bribery rules, and ship recycling regulations.

8.2 ShipScout works only with HKC-certified and EU-listed recycling facilities. We may refuse or stop any Deal involving sanctioned parties or vessels, or non-compliant facilities.

9. Suspension and termination

9.1 We may suspend or terminate your access immediately if you breach these terms, misuse the Platform or fail to pay fees.

9.2 You may stop using the Platform at any time. Sections 4 (for Deals already concluded), 5, 6, 10 and 13 survive termination.

10. Liability

10.1 ShipScout is not liable for indirect or consequential losses, loss of profit, loss of business or loss of data.

10.2 ShipScout's total liability to you in any 12-month period is limited to the membership fees you paid to ShipScout in that period.

10.3 Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law.

11. Personal data

We process the personal data you provide (name, company, email, phone, country) to manage your account and communicate with you. We do not sell personal data. See our Privacy Policy or contact info@shipscout.io for any request about your data.

12. Changes

We may update these terms. We will notify members by email at least 14 days before material changes take effect. Continued use after that date means you accept the updated terms.

13. Governing law and disputes

These terms are governed by English law. Any dispute shall be referred to arbitration in London under the terms of the London Maritime Arbitrators Association (LMAA) current at the time of the reference.
